9. Google Sheets Add-on (PulpMiner Web Data AI Extract)
This section applies specifically to users of the PulpMiner Google Sheets Add-on.
Data We Access
When you use the add-on, we access the following data from your Google account:
- Email address: Retrieved via your Google identity token to authenticate you with our service and manage your account.
- Spreadsheet data: We read URLs from the cell range you specify in your spreadsheet. We do not read or access any other data in your spreadsheet.
- Spreadsheet identifiers: Sheet ID and spreadsheet ID are used solely to write extraction results back to the correct location.
- OAuth token: A short-lived Google OAuth access token (typically valid for one hour) is used by our server to write extracted results directly to your spreadsheet via the Google Sheets API. It is held only for the duration of the extraction job (up to one hour) and deleted immediately after the job completes. It is never written to logs or shared with third parties.
Data We Store
- Email address: Stored in our database to manage your user account, track credit usage, and provide service.
- Extraction configuration: Column names, data types, and allowed values are stored locally in your document's properties (within Google Sheets) for convenience between sessions.
- Job status: Extraction job progress (URLs processed, status, timestamps) is temporarily stored on our servers and automatically deleted after a short period.
- Job payload (URLs + OAuth token): The URLs you submit and the short-lived Google OAuth access token needed to write results back to your spreadsheet are stored transiently in Cloudflare KV for the duration of the extraction job (maximum one hour) and automatically purged. They are deleted immediately once the job completes.
- URLs submitted: The URLs you provide for extraction are processed by our server and are not retained after the extraction job completes.
Data We Do NOT Store
- Spreadsheet content: We do not store the contents of your spreadsheet beyond the URLs submitted for extraction.
- Google identity tokens: Used only for authentication verification and not stored.
Third-Party Services
The add-on relies on the following third-party services:
- Clerk: For user account management and authentication.
- Cloudflare: For API hosting, job queues, and temporary data storage (KV).
- Google Sheets API: To write extraction results back to your spreadsheet on your behalf.
- Google Gemini API (paid tier): HTML content fetched from the URLs you submit is sent to Google's Gemini API so it can be transformed into the structured columns you define. We use the paid Gemini API tier; under Google's paid Gemini API terms, submitted content is not used by Google to train or improve its AI/ML models.
Limited Use Compliance
PulpMiner's use of information received from Google Workspace APIs, and use of data derived from such APIs, will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements or for credit, lending, or insurance decisions.
- We do not sell Google user data.
- We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the user-facing extraction feature (e.g., Cloudflare for hosting, Google Gemini API for the AI extraction step, Google Sheets API to write results back), for security purposes, or to comply with applicable law.
- We do not use Google user data, or data derived from Google Workspace APIs, to develop, improve, or train generalized AI/ML models. Data is only used to produce the extraction result for the specific request that initiated it.
- No humans read the raw Google user data except with your explicit consent, for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or for aggregated and anonymized use in line with the User Data Policy.
Permissions (OAuth Scopes)
- spreadsheets: To read URLs from your selected range and write extraction results back to your sheet.
- script.container.ui: To display the add-on sidebar interface within Google Sheets.
- script.external_request: To communicate with the PulpMiner backend API for data processing.
- userinfo.email: To identify your account and authenticate API requests.
- script.storage: To save your extraction configuration (column settings) locally within the document.
Data Deletion
You may request deletion of all data associated with your account by contacting us at hello@pulpminer.com. Extraction job data (including the transient OAuth access token and submitted URLs) is automatically purged from our servers within one hour and is explicitly deleted immediately after each job completes.
